The restaurant’s setting—a historic building with a charming terrace and rooftop views—adds to its cultural appeal, offering guests a serene and immersive experience reflective of Tetouan’s unique heritage. I came across this restaurant via google maps and loved it! We got the tagine with chicken and vegetables and the couscous with sweet onions and raisins, both were delicious and tasted just like a home-cooked Moroccan meal. The portions were appropriate and great for either one person or to share. The prices were very fair and the menu was easy to understand. The hosts and servers were so kind and welcoming and were very patient in explaining the menu and personalizing the dishes for us. The host/potential owner? spoke multiple languages, including english and french, making the experience easier. While we didn’t stay for dessert, we’d absolutely come back for it next time! The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet corner of Tetouan’s medina, in a historic building with a beautiful breezy terrace upstairs and a more ornate dining area below (picture). A lovely experience all around!
This restaurant was really worth it! The walk to get there felt mystical, as if we went back in time for a fleeting moment. Once we got there we were warmly greeted and got to sit on a calm and colorful terrace. The dishes we had were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the chicken pastilla, and we also found the beef couscous to be very tasty. After settling the bill, we were treated to a short historical tour of the city by the manager of the restaurant. Overall we definitely recommend going there when you get the chance.
We were in Dar La Médina with some friends from Germany, wanting to share a bit of my culture with them, and the experience was absolutely positive. The atmosphere felt very Moroccan, especially with a touch of Tetouan’s unique charm. The people in charge were truly friendly and well-educated; they gave a great impression and reflected the warmth and hospitality we’re proud of.
The best tajine I had in Morocco so far. It was an amazing authentic dinner in a beautiful historical building. The rooftop has a lovely view to a Great mosque of old medina. I'm deeply impressed and grateful. Good luck!
I spent a great time at dar la medina tetawen, which they have the smell of the old city, as also the atmosphere of the city tetouan, and of course the comfort and tranquillity of the place, as well as the traditional food of the city tetouan like "couscous","Tajin" and other dishes. This wonderful business is owned by a Lovely family. They also used to do some workshops on the weekend to introduce Moroccan culture.
Restaurant was amazing! Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Mohammed and the owner were so friendly and amazing. We had an amazing time here, would recommend 100% if you’re in tetouan.
We stopped here late on a Friday hoping to get some couscous for dinner and were told sadly that this was finished already, but they then insisted on sharing what couscous they had saved for themselves with us instead! The hospitality was beyond welcoming and the meal was the most delicious couscous we have ever had and probably ever will have. This is a lovely family owned business. The grandfather of the incredibly talented cook even escorted us back to our hotel. We cannot recommend here enough!
I had an amazing experience here, went on a bit of a whim really as it was just round the corner from where I was staying, I'm not very good at finding places in Morocco and thought I'd got myself lost when all of a sudden I found the place. The hosts are very friendly, showing me around the beautiful building and explaining the different styles of mosaic work, among other things. Some great musicians jamming away on the roof terrace was a great addition to the already nice ambience. The food was excellent, very delicious, I could tell a lot of care had gone into preparing it. Extremely glad I went and had the opportunity to experience this gem of a place. Definitely recommend it and hope to revisit soon.
